There are good things about cell phones. They are minicomputers you carry. They can remind you of your appointments. They even help you remember information about your contacts. The one thing they can't do however is allow you to sleep in with your fiancée. Of course, it was seven in the morning when mine goes off. I open my eyes and look over the nightstand to see the caller.

(Wait a second. I called her my fiancée. I just thought about the fact I wrote about the proposal a few chapters ago and this was the first chapter I called her that. I'm smiling now thinking about it. She said yes!!!)

The display said Aubrey. I picked it up and hit the answer button.

"Good morning," I said.

"Sorry to call, Boss. I was just wondering did you really ask Jan to work on a restraining order against my ex?"

"Aubrey, is that really why you're calling?"

"Well, yeah. It's just I'm not sure that's necessary."

"Aubrey, he snuck into out New Year's party, flattened your boyfriend and accused me of sleeping with you. The dude is off his rocker. It's your choice whether or not to do one. As your friend, I recommend...."

"As my friend? Leo, what has gotten into you?"

"What do you mean?"

'You never cared before like that. He's not the only loser I had dated."

"That's because Missy kept me on a tight leash when it came to wanting to knock the other ones out. The fact is you deserve a good one. You deserve a man who will treat you like the awesome person you are."

I could hear her pausing on the other end.

'Leo, you've never said that before in a non-work setting."

I smiled for a moment before I realized she was right.

"Is that bad?"

"Well, it's definitely non-Leo-like."

"It's true though."

"You're right. I should get that restraining order."

"Does he know where you live now?"

"Not that I know of. Why?"

"Remind Jan to keep it off the papers."

"Right. Sorry to disturb you, Leo."

"It's alright. It's what friends do."

I put the phone down and rolled over to notice my fiancée looking at me.

"She really woke you up regarding the restraining order?"

"She did."

"She is really not used to you being her friend."

"She has a good reason though."

"I heard. Did Missy really keep you from destroying her exes?"

"I'm afraid so. One reason I was not invited to their girls' nights."

She smiled.

"So, what would you like for breakfast?"

"A double helping of you?" she answered before she leaned in for a good kiss.

"Whenever and wherever you want, Beloved."

As we started to roll around in the sheets, I started thinking about how lucky I was at that moment, except for one thing. I paused before she looked at me alarmed.

"Flashbacks?"

"No, but I do remember one thing I forgot to do."

"How important is it?"

"Depends on how much you believe in tradition."

I slipped over to my phone and looked for a number. I didn't have it.

"Sweetheart, do you have Rob's number?"

She found her phone and highlighted it before she looked at me.

"Why Rob?"

"Because your father has been gone for a while. He's the patriarch now."

I hit the call button and heard his voice.

"Sis, it's a little past seven. Shouldn't you be with Leo?"

'She is."

"What? Oh, hey Leo. Everything alright?"

"Yeah, except I fucked up."

"Did you hurt my sister?"

"I made her cry."

'Mother fucker, I'm gonna..."

"I proposed to her, Rob."

There was silence on the other end.

"When?"

"Last night."

"What did she say?"

"She said yes."

"What's the fuck up? Besides calling me at o dark thirty in the morning?"

"I didn't ask for your blessing."

Another pause.

"Damn, dude. You don't need me to say yes. You take the best care of her."

"I believe in tradition, man."

"So do the traditional thing and throw an engagement party for the family. Maybe she can call Monica and have her set it up. It might make her feel better."

"Thank you, sir. I appreciate the thought."

"Let your boss know Jim and I enjoyed the tickets even though they're out of the playoffs."

'I will. Thank you."

My fiancée looked at me with a grin.

"Did I mention Rob doesn't do tradition?"

"It would have been nice to know ahead of time."

"Neither do I."

She said this as she snuck in close and pulled me on top of her.

"Now fuck me like the naughty girl I am before breakfast."

I like following her instructions.
