Just finished my third reading of this great story. Made me mist up again, darn it! Gonna have to go up and hug my spouse for a while. Congratulations on the well-deserved win as LW story of the year!

A story from qhml is always going to be worth reading, and this was no exception. Great characters and a very nice tale of family and what that really means. Thank you again for sharing your wonderful talent with us, and congratulations on the award for this one.

Reading again. Old fashioned CD's? I guess so. I remember when they came in and now they have gone out. Hell, I remember when fax machines were a brand new thing. And now they are as scarce as hen's teeth. How's that for a hundred plus year old saying? I'm glad to make to this old age. I just didn't realize it would happen that quickly.

AFoolRushesInAFoolRushesIn6 months ago

Just a quality story. Characters with depth and roundness. I thought I had read all of your stories, but I don't recall this one. That's okay, because it was just fine this time.

dgfergiedgfergie6 months ago

I read this sometime ago, it still gets me, emotionally. Excellent writing and worth more than 5 stars.

I was fifty three when I got off the fence and started dating again, which was two years after my first wife passed away. Best thing that I ever did. And my second wife has not replaced the love for my first wife. She's just added to it and I feel so blessed that I was able and the short time that we all have on this ball of dirt circling the sun that I was able to be blessed as well as I have with these two awesome women.

Great story made up of great characters. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read a piece and thought ‘No one talks like that’! The wordplay with the principals was genuine. Keep up the good work!

Tremendous. I'm floored.

Considering the author, I shouldn't be surprised.

PhoenixLore1981PhoenixLore19816 months ago

Good story but while I get why I didn't like the ending too much with Angie and Vicki dying though I understand why you wrote it out like that i wish it would have a happy ending its never a happy ending when someone passes away

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

I'm not going to cry...I just peeled onions.

When my wife died after 16 year bout with a very rare cancer, it was a happy ending. 53 years with a perfect woman.

She is now in heaven where everything is perfect forever.

Thanks qhml1! Awesome story!

Such a warm and beautiful story that kept me in an emotional rollercoaster up to the end of the story where it took me way up and then slammed me down with those deaths. I couldn’t stop crying for almost an hour. Incredible story and very well written but it will put some people through the emotional ringer.

Dennis26Dennis265 months ago

Fantastic story.

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

No, just too syrupy and contrived, then lame and preachy. Not real people, not the real world, and not real compelling or believable in the end. But you've got lots and lots of fans. So does McDonald's. About the same quality and content; fat and sugar. Congratulations.

Wonderfully put together story! Author, you need to start writing REAL BOOKS! Excellent detail! Character development was AWESOME! Story line was out of this world! VERY realistic, VERY relatable. I enjoyed reading this nugget of gold! 5 stars. Thank you qhml1 for this work!

Benny Jr’s leaving didn’t make sense. He FINALLY seemed to be getting his life on track, made a serious effort to reconnect with his wife, children, and parents. Then just up and left? As the previous commenter said; what a putz.

PhoenixLore1981PhoenixLore19814 months ago

To the anon that responded to my last comment i get it as i said I understand but it my personal opinion when someone that you love with everything you have passes away its not a happy ending for it leaves a hole in your heart a empty space that can never be filled friends, kids and grandkids can help a lot but even they can't fill that place i have been there my serious relationship a girl that I was engaged to died from cancer my current wife has done a lot to fill that void and I can't imagine my life without her but there is still a empty space in my heart that nobody can fill again i understand cause everyone dies its part of life but it doesn't make it a happy ending for those left behind and in terms of a loving wife story that was written as a romantic tale about an actual loving wife like this story its not a happy ending when the wife passes away or when the husband passes away i get some would say shes in a better place but that's not a cancellation point for the loved ones left behind

Odess83Odess834 months ago

Это очень красивая история, но автор ЗАЧЕМ так заканчивать? Неужели нельзя было остановиться до смерти Энджи и написать, что впереди ждут годы семейного счастья? Концовка добавила горечи в хорошую историю. Не надо так заканчивать!

I jumped to the end before I did a lot of reading on this as I am not able to bear real sad stories. So, I will try to read another story from the author as I pass this one. To all of us who have lost someone special, do your thing but, for me, I can never dwell on it, it hurts too much.

AnonymousAnonymous4 months ago

wld have given my nuts to partake in a relationship such as this one for @30 yrs, instead , well my fault, but didnt get this and never recovered. cant wait to die, its 2024 and the democrap scum and the lazy shifless rest of america have all gone cowardly and kiss the ass of the unaccountable , certainly unaccomplished, self proclaimed entitled elites. western civilization is lost, just mo time needed before everyone realizes it and we are speaking chink and worshiping alla. thank you for nothing liberal progressive idiot democrap socialists. hope you get the worst comeuppance i can imagine. rk

It was a good story not to sound like a bitch but the dude got what he deserved when he was killed anyone who could just up and leave his family for another without warning just abandoning them deserves to die they for damn sure don't deserve to have there kids a part of there life especially when he allowed his new wife to talk him into signing over his rights

A very good story with just enough sex followed by a strong love story without being sappy. I really enjoyed reading way to late into the night!

Second reading and still an emotional trip. Thank you.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 1 month ago

I read one comment from a guy who checked the end and saw 'a sad ending'. His loss but he missed a hell of a story. While sad it is life and as the saying goes 'no one here gets out alive'. The passing was sad but they all ended their lives happy, not all do. Thanks once more to Q. 5 stars (by the way nitpic, just because there is a comment section, don't feel obligated).

@ nitpic : they sell RID at any drugstore, it kills nits and lice too. You should try it and leave the “adult” stories to the adults. Great story, Q, thanks for sharing it here. My third read and I think I enjoy it more every time.

Was an ok story, I got lost in all the kids, step kids, and blah blah. Certainly didn't belong in any erotic category.

Another well written and emotional story from Q. My second read and it still packs quite an emotional punch although my allergies always kick up this time of the year and maybe that's the cause of my tearing up.
