A twenty-minute discussion ensued. The problem was explained. Solutions had already been worked out, costs identified, and a plan of action ready to be implemented. I agreed with the approach with minor changes to demonstrate why I was the big boss.

A phone call to the client's CEO followed. I have learned that a large part of crisis management is keeping the client calm. Attitude goes a long way in resolving problems.

Be calm. Be caring. Be honest.

That was what I told my clients.

And if you can't be honest and caring, be silent. Lying and insincerity are sure ways for a company to go to hell in a handbasket.

Returning the phone to the attendant, my carefree mood had been ruined for the moment. Time to go inside and take a nap before dinner.

Tomorrow, my mind could wander again, imagining new adventures on the beach.
