My Descent with Sarah Pt. 08

Within a week, we got a knock on the door. It was our interviewer.

"James Drainer, Aphrodite magazine," he introduced himself, warmly. We welcomed him in.

The interview was to be pretty straightforward: it would consist of a video, which would be transcribed into print for the magazine, but also linked on their website. It was not to be hidden behind a paywall and would be available for us to link on reddit or anywhere else.

The video would be us (mostly Sarah, I was under no illusions that I would hold much interest) answering any questions they cared to ask.

In addition to the interview, Sarah had agreed to an extensive photoshoot. Aphrodite magazine had suggested they publish a full issue entirely in her honour. She would be on display on the top shelf one more time, which met with her delighted approval.

Aphrodite magazine isn't renowned for its investigative journalism, so they had hired James Drainer who was a very well qualified, if inexperienced, freelance journalist. I wondered out loud how good of a career move this interview was likely to be.

"It might not be Newsnight, but my audience is going to be massive," was his thinking on the subject. "All publicity is good publicity, right?"

Sarah was dressed relatively demurely. I knew she wore no underwear, but the dress she sported was very elegant and business-like, and her hair was up in a bun on her head. She wore her glasses, and looked every inch the 'A' level English teacher. I had worn a smart pair of trousers and shirt.

Sarah was very relaxed. I was feeling nervous. I'd worried about this for a while but had decided to go ahead with it as I didn't want Sarah to do it on her own - although she was perfectly willing to.

The camera set up, lights switched on and both of us settled, the questions began. The following is the transcript exactly as it appeared in Aphrodite, who were true to their word in printing exactly what was said.

A: ('A' stood for 'Aphrodite'). Welcome to what will be a wide ranging interview with Sarah Clarke, the former college teacher who has been widely reported this week to have lost her job due to sexual activity in her own time, outside of the workplace.

A: Sarah, Dan - Hello to both of you. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to ask you the questions that have been on everyone's lips since this story broke.

S: Thanks for coming!

A: So, let's get down to it. Firstly, let's just get some facts straight, and make sure everyone knows what we're talking about here. Just in case anyone has been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks. Sarah, up until recently, you were a teacher at the local college. What exactly happened - why are you no longer teaching there?

S: Well, technically I do still work there - I'm still in my notice period. But they put me on paid leave, for the duration of my notice, which is three months.

A: And why did they do that?

S: The official reason was 'Gross Misconduct'.

A: Did you agree with their decision?

S: I guess I do, really. I mean, I can definitely understand it.

A: Can I ask for a bit more detail as to the nature of the misconduct? Just to get it in your own words.

S: Sure. Well what caused everything to come to a head was mostly your fault - Aphrodite's fault I mean. We'd sent some naughty pictures into your magazine - two separate times. You'd printed both lots. But there was a vote and I won wife of the year, which was nice. But I hadn't received the emails you'd sent telling me I'd be on the cover. So it was a bit of a surprise to see myself on the top shelf!

A: I see - sorry about that

S: No - it wasn't your fault. In fact, it made me really proud, seeing myself up there - and I'm looking forward to doing it again!

A: That is good to hear, for Aphrodite magazine. But I take it your employers were not as proud?

S: No! Well, to be honest I've not spoken to anyone there at length. But when I showed the principal, I was told this type of thing was incompatible with being a teacher.

A: And do you agree with that?

S: I suppose I do. I mean, I'd like to live in a world where it was OK to be me, but,

S: But I mean, if it's something that everyone's doing, then it's not as fun, is it? I mean, it's quite exciting knowing that everyone thinks you should behave in a certain way, and then going so spectacularly in another direction

A: Spectacularly - that's an interesting choice of word. It's not a word that conjures up any shame on your behalf - would you agree?

S: Are you asking me if I'm ashamed of myself?

A: I suppose I am, in a roundabout way.

S: Absolutely, categorically not.

A: And you, Dan. How did you feel about your girlfriend being there for everyone to see in newsagents around the country?

D: Extremely lucky. And Horny. And proud as well. Who wouldn't be?

A: OK, so just to push the point a bit, what sort of nude pictures would you describe as tasteful.

S: Oh, you know - soft lighting, legs together, that sort of thing.

A: And your pictures differed?

S: I think you're trying to get me to describe my poses, aren't you

A: That's pretty much it.

S: It's OK, I get it. So I stripped off, I spread my legs, I held my pussy wide open.

S: It was one of my students

A: Did you try to get it removed from sale?

A: And did you leave straight away?

A: You were close to your students?

A: Did you tell them why you were leaving?

S: I did

A: If you had a son or daughter, and they were in your class, would it concern you?

S: Concern me?

S: Right. Well, no. I am a good teacher. I was a good teacher to my students. I think the evidence will be there when the exam results come in.

A: Was there ever any sexual contact between you and your students?

S: No! Most of them are under 18. I did not ever engage in any kind of a relationship with any one of my students.

A: If you encountered one of your former students outside of the college, would you be interested in engaging in any kind of sexual activity with them?
