For all her legal skill, Patricia's pretty transparent, at least to me. I could see in her eyes that she was trying on counter arguments, testing them out, seeing which might work. And then I saw when she realized that it was really over. It was like a light turned off in her eyes.

*

Once Patricia decided not to fight it, the divorce went quickly. We did the usual horse trading--her jewelry for my tools and TV, her furniture for my partially-restored Mustang. In the end, we sold the house, split everything down the middle, and saved a lot of money on lawyers.

The thing about divorce is that, even when it's over, it's not over. I still see Patricia a lot--at our kids' birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases. Sometimes, she brings a date, and I usually have a woman on my arm. For the last year or so, it's been the same woman, and I can tell by the look in Patricia's eyes that she knows what that means.

I try not to gloat, but sometimes my willpower...well, it can be a little fragile.

It was a good story . . . until the very last line. That one line pushed it over the top to 5*s

Spectacular. Should be made for all women to read. 5 well-deserved stars.

Still 5 stars from Xluckylee

The wives use the "fragile male ego" line so much that we've fallen for it. What few realize is that the wives are cheating because they have a need for some young stud to validate they're still attractive or they have it or the younger guy makes them feel younger. To find the true definition of a fragile ego all they have to do is look in the mirror.

Five stars. I read this piece a number of times and this is the best piece in Literotica to get the meaning “ fragile male ego” correct from the male perspective.

Clear, concise, and correct. Well done.

If you were looking to put up a story worthy of comparison to "Words", you fucking nailed it. Outstanding.

5*

I agree "Words" is a classic, and this one is close. Actions are louder than words, actions supported by words are outright deafening.

Thanks for sharing.

On the lighter side: "No that dress doesn't make your ass look fat; your ass makes your ass look fat."

Second Time Around Reads Even Better

Not a wasted word in this story. Powerful dialogue about trust. Hubby demolished wife’s arguments but wasn’t mean and pulled his punches once he disproved her logic - he took the high road. Classic story.

Wonderfully written. Well done.

Great story, Bruce, thanks for sharing it here. It seemed like Matt bipassed the BTB option and managed to talk his way through a fairly civil and uneventful divorce. Seems like the way to go, to me. Save the BTB option until after the divorce is final, over and done. Then go for it.

Thanks again, Bruce. 5 stars.

Reading again. Words is still the best story in this vein, but this one is very close. Easy *5.
