I fell asleep like that, with him lying on top of me. And the following morning we got up and got on with our lives together, just like we'd done every day since Thomas opened that dorm door over a decade ago.

I couldn't agree more: getting emotionally involved with somebody or distancing yourself from your partner is way more dangerous for a relationship than casual and meaningless sex. Sad that Scott had to learn this the hard way, but I'm totally on Thomas' side in this matter. And full marks for you setting us up for six chapters to feel the other way round, very skillfully done.

One more chapter...

Chapter 8 was posted a few hours later on the same day as chapter 7, so it's further down on the "New" list, in case you're accessing via the Gay Male hub.

Thanks for reading!

So... That's it? It just feels unfinished.

I really loved the description of how their relationship failed. It was so real. It would probably be the script of many failed couples sadly with the details and names changed. It struck as real and all the more sad for his seeing the mistakes made and the real emotions behind their actions. I still would like to see it go back to present in the end. I'd have loved for you to bring us back outside the connecting door and leave us a cliffhanger of his turning the knob or something. You don't need to take the story further but it'd feel better redirecting it to the present where the story is taking place. Other than that, well-done. The characters are developing well and you've made me hope they work things out.
