The Coroner was skeptical when they brought in the article, but the details that Emily and Nick gave either agreed with the unreleased information that his office gleaned from the remains, or they explained the gaps in reasonable ways.

Tommy was easily identified because he still wore his dog tags, but they couldn't find his surviving family. The article made it likely that the two remaining skeletons were Oscar and Trish, but their tests might never provide a positive identification.

Despite the uncertainty, the Coroner let Nick and Emily make some arrangements and provide a grave marker. The marker contained all the information they found. It read,

"Here lie Oscar Hanson McKay, Oct 12, 1896-Nov, 1949

Patricia Julia McKay nee Harper, June 3, 1917-Nov, 1949 his loving wife

Thomas Leroy Nash, Aug 8, 1925-Nov, 1949 their friend

They have forgiven each other, now may peace be theirs."

Quite Unique

You've created a gem here. I was completely willing to suspend my belief to fall into the ghost world of Oscar, Trish, and Tommy. Your ending was the cherry on top.

Enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed the story. The characters were very well drawn, with light brushstrokes, and the story flowed well. I liked the way Nick and Emil were the agents of the story's climax. A story very well spun!

Liked this very much

Poignant, strange, curious - resonated because the characters were well written - their dialogue, behavior, attitudes. Easy to get drawn into what was happening. Glad that Oscar, Trish, and Tommy were finally laid to rest. But am a little curious as to what happened to their spirits. Of course, Nick and Emily couldn't remain to see what finally happened - but hope the spirits can finally RIP.
