Occasionally, I look back to that day I read Candy's note and how I felt at the time – not knowing then it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

The love that Ana and I shared only got better as time passed. We never had any more children after Juan Carlos but he was enough. He grew into a tall, good looking young man with wavy black hair he liked to wear long. His sisters confided in me that all the girls at his school got weak in the knees whenever he passed by.

The twins grew into great beauties ... and that led to my premature gray hair.

It was a good life; a great life and we lived it to the fullest.

Great story, weak ending. It wrapped up to quickly with a lot of loose ends.

Good Story

Sometimes after I’ve read one of Jake’s stories I feel like I’ve been on a trip, he describes the locations and atmosphere so well. I had to laugh a little at this one, when Candy talked about changing jobs. She decided to give up her “international travel” job and go to work at a three person office in Odessa Texas. Wow, talk about a step down. But I can’t fault her, though, I’ve traveled internationally and I’ve lived in Odessa. All things considered, I would take Odessa too. It’s a nice place to live if you don’t mind hot, flat and dry. Thanks for the story, Jake.

Great Story But..........

Great Story But, Candy made a grave mistake which she admitted. Doesn't she deserve some sympathy? It is really too bad that the author didn't show that she found another husband and re-ordered her life with a family of her own. Instead he banished her to the boon docks of Odessa, TX. Only God knows where that is! Is it even in the civilized world? Come on Odessa is a modern city. They even have electric power, telephones and TV there. Sad! Very Sad!! Common sense would have her relocated to her hometown and her family in California where he met her.

Damn, what a great story. Not just romance, but geography and foreign culture all wrapped up in a wonderful tale. I just wish there was more of it. High five, Jake Rivers.

Magnifcent

Creo que es magnífico. - My heart continues to be warmed by your submissions, though as said earlier, I do not care much for profanity and explicit sexual accounts. The one spoken, Maggie Mae, as I recall, and this one are supreme...I would like to chat with you, but hesitate to include my email address for fear of it being picked up and used in a way that would let people know I visit this site. I come here to find stories similar to the two mentioned...I am Christian, served the the USMC, love fishing, suspecting you and I may have some things in common. I come here often and check the new stories category... if you care, and write a short story called "ontos" and embedding a way to meet on line, keeping my ID hidden. Thank you very much.... Oh, I know about the Ontos, not having been on one but have trained with the 105 mm recoiless rifle.

turned away too fast

She turned away so fast that she didn't see him tackled and slammed into the light post?

That kind of speed would seem like she was set to turn away from him already.

Just right

She reacted as most anyone with some anxiety would - they had not know each pother long enough for that true trusting bond to develop - especially for her with her issues -

So it went well and the ending was as it should have been - nice work and a good mind in there we get to enjoy lol

Loved it!

I only have one other comment to make about this series: Candy was right about the two not spending enough time together to have a real marriage. I will not say that her method of divorcing him was right (Gods forbid!), but I will say that any marriage where the two travel more than they coexist is doomed to failure.

A great Story

I guess I am a sucker for happy endings. Plus a well laid laid out plot. Another great story, and right in line with the times and a serious problem on cruises

Outstanding!!

Everytime I think I've found my favorite of your stories I read another and get confused. Guess I'll have to read them all again and see. Keep up the great work. As I've said before, I love happy endings

Loved the ending

Jake, but this Horny 'ol Sailor is known to be a sucker for happy endings. Thank You. Ronnie W.

Ahhh... finally a pearl amidst a field of shit

I would score higher, but I felt that Candy didn't suffer enough. But I guess since the drifted apart so much he didn't really feel that much pain himself.

Another great one!!!

Jake, this was an exciting tale leading up to just the kind of happy ending that I love. They will live happily ever after and we can wish the same for Candy. After her initial betrayal she did subsequently treat him honourably, or so the author would have us believe. Just one point Jake, when the comments are opened to "read more" all negative comments disappear! Surely you would not stoop to this Jake? Still there are occasions when I would condone this. Another great one! Pete.
