Polina scurried round to the side of the painting where Katharina was standing. It seemed for a moment as if she was going to offer to help carry it, but she simply stood and waved Katharina out of the library, fidgeting and fretting as Katharina carried her cargo carefully through the doorway.
As she made her way along the hallway, Katharina hurried to prepare a few excuses should her hasty deception be found out. Perhaps it was actually another girl who had requested she take the painting, to deliver it to Julie's chambers as a gift. Polina had misheard her. Or she could just lay the responsibility on Vera somehow. Her qualms quickly dismissed, Katharina's excitement mounted as she made the steps and began her ascent back to Vera's floor.
