"How much did you hear me say?"
"Not a lot," Kelly shrugged. "You were mumbling, so it was kind of hard to understand, anything that you were saying."
I sighed, relieved and wiped more sweat from my forehead...hopefully, she hadn't figured out what kind of a crazy dream, I had actually just had. Brushing the whole thing aside, Kelly smiled and laid down next to me, and I laid back again and looked over at her. "Amy," she said softly.
"Does anyone else know, that you're gay?"
"No," I shook my head. It was true, I hadn't told a soul about my sexuality...not until today, anyway.
"So, I'm the first one?"
"Mmhm," I smiled.
"I'm glad you picked me, to come out to first. I mean...we're best friends, right?"
Best friends. Until the end. Maybe that was all I would ever have with Kelly but, I could live with it.
As we both drifted off to sleep, I thought to myself...
"At least, I got you in my head."
