Once we dry off, he picks me up, then carries me into his bedroom. We've done this many times before as well, but never, until today, with an itinerary that includes shopping for rings. In this sad and dangerous era, with Covid-19 and riots in our cities, I'm ecstatic. Mom and Dad were right—I'm happier than I've ever been. We're no longer just living in the moment but for the future as well. Between kisses, Bryson says, "By the time we tie the knot, I hope this plague is behind us."

Of course, I hope for the same thing. "I'd hate for this virus to force us into a virtual wedding."

He nods, slips his body between my legs and then enters me. "Nothing virtual about this. Or my love for you, Layla Moretti."

"Or my love for you, Bryson Kobin."

We make love with a passion that I hope will endure as long as we endure. Later, I order a ring, and by the time we leave the jewelers, the sun is still out and I can see us soaring over any hurtle thrown in front of us, no matter how high.

5 stars all the way through this series, but they really do need to come to a clear, firm consensus on the subject of children before they tie the knot. Can he be ok with still having kids in college when he’s deep in his 70s? If he isn’t, can she be ok with a childfree life? Almost any other challenge that comes to a May/December life partnership can be finessed with compromise and understanding. This one is not among them. If they’re not completely on the same page for this, someone is going to be profoundly disappointed, and the relationship likely won’t survive. I would love to be a fly on the wall when this is resolved. Author, do you have one more of this series in you?

Another 5* story

The quality of your stories more than make up for an occasional error.

Excellent, 5* in my book.

I check back most days looking for a new story from you. This one did not disappoint. Keep up the great work.

Hurdles

Absolutely. It's spelling mistakes like that that make me cringe and wish I could go back to correct them.

I do not think that word means what you think it means

I believe you were going for hurdles, those things that you overcome or jump over.
