Chapter 57::Assessment(Part 4)(Final):Post Battle analysis and ranking

"Alright... that was quick..."

Rana, the name of the orc monster girl, gave a passing remark as she produced a metallic card out of thin air and proceeded to gaze at it.

"I see... no wonder... Hmmm..."

She seemed to mumble to herself as she read the information on the tiny metal plate like it was some grand detailed report.

Meanwhile, the rest of them were celebrating the incredible display of might shown by both monster girls

"Holy shit! Just what is your cat maid out of!"

Daniel was back to being in Simon's personal space, not that he minded, as he was excited by the performance of both his monster girls especially Stella whom he could not even track and he had very very good vision.

How she was purring as his fingers were combing through her soft hair was a treat he could not even enjoy from cat mom. The vibrations crossed his palms up his arms all the way to his spine and the feeling was very soothing.

"Yeah... She is special..."

From the stories he heard from his dad and moms, monsters were no joke, and the encounters he just had reinforced that statement. If he was in the situation his monster girls were in, he would not have survived even a single engagement, the second fight was especially insane because both parties were essentially a blur of movement.

Well, the second one was more of a fight, the first one was just an instant execution.

He was grinning at his monster girl when Rana announced.

"I think you people have had enough time to celebrate. Now please listen to post-battle analysis."

She held out the small metallic card made even tinier by her massive hands and waved it around trying to catch the eye of both boys which she did rather successfully.

"First of all. Both monster girls have been assigned as epic tier monster girls based on their performance..." She said in a very even tone but someone else picked up the slack for her.

"What?!" Daniel's eyes had become saucers at the casual admittance.

But Simon had an idea of what that meant especially since his talk with his over-the-top friend not too long ago.

A look from the fierce monster girl and the gaunt boy immediately clamored up.

"Yes, as I was saying. Both your monster girls are epic and your first monster girl, Amy, her epic ability has been identified and categorized. While normally, her ability would cause room for disqualification, its ubiquitous nature files it as a passive benefit."

The way she delivered the news was so even and professional that Simon had a hard time gauging how he should feel.

"'Alpha and Omega' as it has been termed seems to be both a passive and aura effect packaged into one. It passively doubles the physical attributes of every member in the pack while making the holder physically more capable by 20% per member of the pack or harem in your case."

"Do not utter another word mister Daniel and let me finish."

The intimidating green monster girl turned her head and raised one finger to Daniel, visibly shaking with barely contained excitement before shifting back.

"On top of this, it doubles the doubling effect while one of the harem or pack is in combat excluding the alpha herself. This effect is based on thought and as long as you know they are in combat, the effect triggers. But, since this is an epic aura effect, it does not end there. Anyone you consider as an ally also gains this effect under three conditions, they are in combat, you can see them and you want to give them the benefit."

She paused for a moment to let it all sink in but as Simon did not have a reference point, all he understood was that Amy had a very powerful physical boosting ability. And Simon already thought world of his first monster girl.

"However, in Stella's case, both the initial passive and the aura effect seemed to be active twice over in a multiplicative fashion. While an epic monster girl is twice as powerful as the base excluding their unique ability, her performance was widely out of band even with a four times force multiplier. Trying to find the core of this issue, our psychics believe that you also have the same ability which affected her multiplicatively. A sixteen times force multiplier does align with the performance shown. Both your identification cards have been updated to include this."

For the first time, a smile appeared on Rana's face and it was downright menacing.

"Such a powerful supportively ability working in tandem leads our department to directly make you a platinum rank novice deliver, congratulations. However, as a novice, you can only delve under the supervision of a veteran monster girl. Please ask questions if you have any."

Simon had a lot of questions, however, none of them were related to the reason why Daniel burst out unable to hold himself in anymore.

"HOLY FUCKING SHIT! AN EPIC AURA HOLDER!"

He ignored his friend as he asked.

"Can you explain in detail what is delving and how the ranks and everything works? I am very new."

Chapter 58: A Comprehensive Discussion

Daniel could not stay for very long after his final outburst remembering something important he had to do and soon booked it, leaving Simon with his tames and Rana, whose posture seemed to relax a little.

Simon, however, was currently too interested in his questions to give his friend much thought. His constant excitement numbed him to the gaunt boy's final remark.

"Hah... Normally who come here at least have an idea of what the system is. But you are digging deep."

Simon only shrugged his shoulders given that both his hands were currently occupied with petting his monster girls who were currently check out in rapture.

"As someone told me recently, I am apparently from the boonies."

He said with a smile remembering a very recent conversation.

"Huh. Can I get the address? I wonder if there are more super hillbilly tamers down there."

Rana gave him a smirk which while fearsome felt less menacing. She jutted her hip to the side which only brought attention to her rock-hard abs.

"That... I cannot help you with. I do not have an idea of how I ended up here."

Simon only tilted his head, slightly confused by the shift in her demeanor.

"Yeah. You 'fish out of water' types always say that."

She was thoughtful, her bright yellow eyes staring into the distance.

"I see... So about the things I asked."

She snorted.

"I am getting to it. Sheesh..."

She coughed into a very powerful fist, one that looked like it could crush his skull, and then started in a very awkward fashion.

"Alright. So first thing I should explain is how all of this shit works. First! You need three monster girls. Second! You need to be certified by a sanctioned trainer."

Simon was taken aback by the delivery but a massive raised finger kept his mouth shut.

"Third! You need to spend merit points to earn the right of entry to any of the university's in-house dungeons. Forth! You are ranked based on how much stuff you bring out of delves. This leads into Fifth! The ranking system dictates what sanctioned dungeons you can enter. If the dungeon is not under jurisdiction, you can enter willy-nilly but you ain't getting any of the protections the powers that be have in place. Sixth! Any stuff you find while delving can be sold to the school for merit points and buy things. Seventh! The actual Tamer's guild endorses the university so anything you get can carry over. Eighth! Please do not skimp out on an 'escape crystal' like please don't. And... I think that is it."

She let a breath along with a gag that looked like she spat something vile.

"What is with the style?"

This time it was her turn to shrug.

"Yeah... well, can't help it. The tamers that keep me fed want it to be LOUD AND CLEAR when I spout this stuff so here you go."

Simon had a raised eyebrow as he stated something that had been brewing in the back of his head.

"You are being very different than when you assessed my monster girls."

She gave him a wide toothy smile and it was toothy given that she had lower canines that were considerably larger than the rest.

"Well. You are gonna need a 'supervisor' cause you are still a novice and technically your 'assessment' is only really over after you come out of the novice title. But fuck, Since you are platinum grade, you could probably even whoop my ass. But since I am on the list, I might as well show you what I am like on the field in case you choose me."

Then she took a breath as if bracing for something.

"I will also be straight with you. No bullshit the reason I am doing this is cause if you choose me and I help, there is a payment. This means that the tamer has to feed the monster girl for services rendered or use merit points to feed them the mass-produced gruel. I am hoping that since you are platinum you are gonna give me some premium stuff. So... is it working."

Simon wanted to say 'Yes' for a multitude of reasons, the biggest of which was a conversation he had with an annoying individual the last day. But there was a surge of sensations that made him blink while rapidly shaking his head.

"That's a bit to unpack but can we move a step back?"

Rana raised one of her red eyebrows.

"Sure."

Simon used a question to get a handle on the sudden wave of emotions. A slow glow in his rings.

"What are ranks and grades?"

"Oh! Right! So rank is like general quality control and decides how complex quests you can accept. Things like, 'This rare collector wants this rare monster drop. Please get it!' that sort of thing. Your rank is like a guarantee of your skill, it goes from novice to journeyman to adept to expert to master to grandmaster to hero. The grade is like... what tier of monster girls you can field. This one goes from stone, copper, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, Elite, Lord, and finally Divine."

His curiosity and her answer helped and he felt more normal by the time the explanation ended.

Now that he felt like he was in the driver's he answered.

"Yes."

Rana tilted her head, causing the two dangling front braids to go off-kilter.

"To?"

"I would like to take you as my 'veteran'."

Rana pumped one fist into the air, a massive scimitar appearing in her hand.

"YES!"

Again that burst of emotions.

"What did Daniel mean when he said Aura holder?"

Rana looked like she was about to leap into the air but stopped when she heard his question.

"Oh! That! That's simple. Tamers don't amount to much in a fight so any supportive ability is held in high regard, auras are like the pinnacle of this and there is an entire field of study dedicated to it. An epic aura is only second to a legendary aura and you can't teach either so it makes you very desirable as a party member."

Simon took it at face value and moved on. But before he could think of another question, one was thrown his way.

"Wanna delve right now?"

She looked very very excited.

"Sure?"

Simon answered.

Chapter 59:Going to dungeon delve

Simon made light of a very big bomb as he was dragged by a physically imposing Rana along with two annoyed monster girls who had their massages abruptly stopped.

For his part, it was pretty exciting. He had never heard about Dungeon delving before this point, and the show both his monster girls put up made him want to try.

They moved out of the assessment zone back into the halls and after a trek, they arrived at a very unique scene.

Row after row of giant floating crystals, arranged in a very organized manner.

These were larger than him by an order of magnitude and spun midair while letting out a slight luminescent glow. That was not the only thing unique about them. Each had a marked area in the row where it was constantly arcing a form of magical electricity. Except every time it did, a tamer disappeared into the lightning or reappeared. Scores of tamers were huddling the closest crystals while the number kept falling further as they went towards the center.

"Ok! We are going to ease ourselves in by trying a tier 1 dungeon first. Before you ask, dungeons are divided into tiers from 1 to 7 with one being the weakest and 7 the strongest. It is generally the number of floors the dungeon has, the formula roughly works like 5 times the tier stacking additively."

Rana was being forward and explaining things to the boy before he could even voice his questions.

As a veteran who has been in this line of work for 30 years and counting, she had a general idea of how to deal with most tamers. Simon in her professional eye was an incredibly talented individual who was wet behind the ears and eager to learn.

He also seemed like he was a tamer with purpose, a rare trait in young tamers. Though by the general lost look, he would sometimes give off, She had the feeling he was currently still trying to find his way.

This type of fellow tended to be very receptive to an authority figure. Since she qualified she had to try and get a taste of such an absurdly powerful newbie. She already knew he was blessed and her inner monster girl was already trying to shatter its chains and jump his bones.

Her training, however, made sure she did not do anything untoward, but her instincts paid off as he agreed to make her his supervisor to fill out his roster.

With that out of the way, she had two options. Wait and slowly teach him how to do the dungeon before delving into a slow and steady process. It was the safe one.

But her mouth watered thinking how he may taste like, to the point she threw caution to the wind despite her better sense and asked for a 'live demonstration' something he readily agreed.

He would of course do so as he was currently on the high of seeing his monster girls slaughter a pair of caged monsters. And it also makes novices more likely to agree.

Even after stacking all of that the chances of a 'blessed' saying less were astronomically low so when he did give his okay she wanted to rush it just in case he changed his mind.

Simon had no idea the types of thoughts going through Rana's head. His head swiveled in every direction trying to take the sights in.

Something in the air here was electric and it pumped his blood with adrenaline, unknown to him or anyone really, both his eyes and bands had an imperceptible glow.

And Rana was answering his questions before he even had the chance to voice them which only added to the feeling of adventure.

"Alright, as a platinum grade the lowest tier-sanctioned dungeon you are allowed to go in is tier 3 and that is what we are going to try. Also, do you have an escape crystal? If not I heavily recommend you buy one. If you do not have the merit points I can pay for you but it will cost you a couple of feeding sessions."

Given the warning she had spouted Simon readily agreed.

"Pay for me."

Rana had a very very hard time trying to hide the lewd feral smile that threatened to take over her face but she did manage if only barely.

"Done. Also, catch this."

A gem was flicked in his direction and his natural reflexes caught the thing.

He opened his palm to see the emerald monster gem that lay in his palm.

"What is this monster gem?"

"it is mine. You are going to need to attune it to yourself if you want to take me into the dungeon."

This was a thing Simon did learn about at home and as such had a wealth of knowledge on. With a thought, he was attuned to it.

"Done."

Rana raised a red eyebrow.

"Done?"

"Yeah. I read up on monster gems and know my way around one."

Simon said simply, showing his lopsided growth.

Rana gave him a questioning look before shrugging and getting down to her side of things.

"Alright. But some ground rules before we enter. First, my word is law, no matter what happens if I give you a command you follow it, I do not care if you have a better idea. If that is too much for you tell me now, failure to adhere to the supervisor's rules puts a red mark on your rank which is very hard to remove. And you can't ascend to the next rank while you have it."

He gave her a serious nod imitated by Stella while Amy only tilted her head.

"Second, always do your research before entering a dungeon if you can. The one we are entering is a magic forest-themed dungeon. What is a theme? The general type of monster girls and the type of puzzles you may need to solve. Yes, a dungeon has puzzles but that is not relevant right now. The type of monster girls available is, it is filled with ambush-based monster girls who are proficient in magic both your monster girls can counter this, especially at the level we are entering."

As she talked both passed the red line that encased every crystal, the arcs never went past this line so Simon assumed it to be some sort of spatial distortion but no peculiar feeling washed over him. This made him think that the line was just the limit of the arc. But it was magic though as it glowed when the four of them entered.

"Unless you are authorized you are not allowed to walk past the red line, otherwise a barrier will stop you. Since you are attuned to me you don't have to worry. But when your rank passes novice, you will have free reign on dungeons based on your grade. With that out of the way, time to jump in."

Simon was about to ask something when an arc of lightning struck them so fast that not even Amy or Stella could react, and with that, all of them were sucked into the dungeon.

Chapter 60:Safe zone explanation

Now being turned into energy and back into the matter should have felt like something. The shift in space was surely due to magical manipulation. But it was much more mundane than he was expecting. Outside of the light, there were no extra effects. One blink he was staring into the giant crystal, the next, he was staring at trees under an open sky.

Except, the trees were distorted and glittered while the sky was purple and filled with orange dots. The scene was honestly unlike anything he had seen before and only in books did he experience anything as novel as this.

Amy was swiveling every which way taking everything in. Stella was similarly curious except hers was much more adorable.

*Woof!*

Simon chuckled, Amy rarely spoke. The time she did most was when he had first bonded all those days ago. But in doing so he now understood what she was saying by her barks alone. Like right now, she was asking where they were.

"I have no idea..."

He lifted both arms in a shrug.

Rana let the rookie tamer get used to the change as she took stock of what they needed to do. In her excitement, she might have jumped the plank a little earlier than she should have. But since they were already here, she did what she had done all her life, improvise.

"Alright, before we get into this something you all should keep in mind. Keep your guard up. This is a tier 3 dungeon and should not be a threat to us but never get complacent. Complacency has been the death of many tamers."

Simon nodded but Amy scoffed, letting out one of her wolfish snorts.

She had already tracked most if not all the hidden monster threats in the vicinity. Though, none of them seemed to try and enter the small open space they were currently standing on.

"Alright, first things first. When you enter a dungeon you start in a 'beginning safe zone', a place where the dungeon cannot hurt you in any way or form. The area around you is considered zone 1 or floor 1. When you leave this 'beginning safe zone', the dungeon will absorb it and you can't come back here. So while you are here, prepare and prepare well."

Simon noticed the thin circular luminescent boundary that he assumed made the 'safe zone' at least he assumed it did and asked the important question.
