"I have also found my mate; her name is Louisa Elaine Metairie."

His mother dropped her fork and Silas stood abruptly causing his chair to clatter to the floor.

"I haven't heard that name in over two hundred years. We learned about her in our Were history classes. I thought it was just a legend, but she is real and you are her mate; I cannot believe it."

Silas Chambers recovered his seat and looked at Joe with a new respect. His son had found his mate and she was special. This would bring their pack back together if nothing else would.

He now understood why his sons had to leave and he could not be more proud of them for returning. He felt more hope today than he had in the last twenty years.

"Where is your mate Joe? We would love to meet her." Hanna Chambers had a look of anticipation in her eyes and grabbed Joe's hand across the table.

"She is in Dakota for the Blood Moon ceremony. I am to meet her there in a few days; we will mate after the ceremony is complete."

"I hope that you would consider holding a mating ceremony here my son. It would do our pack good to know that their next Alpha has returned and with a legendary mate as well." Silas was almost back to his old self and Joe didn't like what he was hearing.

"Father I'll leave our plans up to Louisa. After all she is the most important part of my life right now. But I'll let her know about your invitation." Silas seemed pleased with that and let the topic go.

Ralph asked the question that was on each brother's mind; "How many pack members live here now?"

"You are looking at them." Patsy said sarcastically. "Why do you think everything looks so run down? There is not enough of us to keep this place up, not to mention protect it."

Her anger was still apparent and Reggie got that goofy look on his face again.

Joe clamped his hand down on Reggie's thigh as a warning and felt him calm down. This was not the time for Reggie to assert his claim, but he could understand his impatience. He hadn't exactly taken his time where Louisa was concerned. Smiling as he thought about his mate; Joe stood up to help clear the table.

"Let Patsy and Palmer take care of that. I want you boys to come to the office so we can start getting a contact list together."

"I will be right in Father." Reggie stood up and grabbed a few plates following the brother and sister into the kitchen.

"We got this, but thanks for the help anyway." Palmer took the dishes from Reggie and loaded them into the dishwasher. Patsy stood at the sink washing the pots and pans that had been used to cook breakfast.

"I just wanted to help out. It's been a while since I've been in this kitchen. I have lots of great memories growing up here."

Patsy looked at the man out of the corner of her eye. He was so handsome and his brown eyes were surrounded by long dark lashes. His nose was prominent above full lips that were begging to be kissed. But she hated the Chambers brothers. There was no way she should be thinking of him that way.

She looked down at her hands and continued scrubbing the pot in the sink. She was moving so vigorously that water sloshed over onto the floor.

Reggie grabbed the sponge mop from the back porch and began to mop the floor. Patsy moved out of the way until he finished. Not daring to be rude she made herself thank him and got back to work.

Palmer watched Reggie and smiled. That was quick he thought and nodded his head at Reggie in understanding.

"Reggie; do you think I could talk to you outside for a few minutes please?"

"Sure Palmer." Reggie joined Palmer in the back yard and walked a small way away from the house.

"I am happy that you have your eye on my sister, but beware she is strong willed and won't acknowledge you easily. I will help you out if I can, but I won't go against her wishes if she refuses to mate with you."

"I wasn't aware that the mating pull could be refused. I thought the mates would die if it was not completed."

"You are wrong, you won't die, but you might as well be dead. The pain of resisting is a fate far worse than death."

"I will not force your sister to be my mate, but it goes a long way knowing that you won't stand in my way."

Reggie clapped Palmer on the back and they went back into the house. Reggie passed through the kitchen and said goodnight to Patsy.

She said goodnight and finished wiping down the counters.

Well that's progress Reggie thought and went to his Father's office to see what was going on.

"I have a list of all our pack members addresses and phone numbers. We can start calling them all and ask for a meeting in the next few days. That way we can explain to them about rebuilding the pack and let them feel the bond that we share is as strong as ever." Silas offered excitedly.

"Dad aren't you able to contact everyone through your bond? If they aren't out of town you should be able to reach them."

Ralph stood by the window and looked at the overgrown fields in the rear of the house. It pained him and he wished he could start clearing the land right away.

"I haven't tried to contact anyone since they left. I am embarrassed to say that I let my pride get in the way. I refused to ask anyone to stay; I didn't want to beg them not to leave."

"I understand Father, but I think you should give it a try. We can offer you financial assistance if it is needed and we won't take no for an answer. There are security matters that need to be addressed, and the first thing I want to do is get the entry gate fixed and set up with security cameras." Joe said.

"I know that I fought you boys on that issue before you left and I understand the need for such things now. I am willing to do whatever is necessary to bring our land back up to standards. Why don't you call in the specialist that can help secure our property?"

"That would make me feel better since I will be leaving in a few days." Joe stood up and went around to his father's side.

"Dad it is good to be home. I can't wait to have this place back to normal. It will be filled with pack members that remember what it is to be a part of a great pack as we were before."

"The Blood Moon is supposed to bring prosperity son, and I can see that prosperity is well on the way back to our family."

Silas stood up and hugged his son. He and Joe had come a long way in just a few short hours. He didn't want to acknowledge that it had really taken twenty-five years and him losing most of his pack.

****

Joe stepped into his bedroom and sighed. He realized that it was going to take a long time to get the pack back together, but he would give it his best shot.

He hadn't thought he would find his childhood home in such sad shape. The Beta Patsy had wounded his soul with her harsh words and he was going to keep his promise. He and his brothers would return the pack to its former glory if it was the last thing they did.

He looked around his bedroom and smiled at the childhood mementos he had left behind. Old posters and his bow and arrow hung on the wall. His mother had not changed a thing and he laughed at her sentiment.

He opened his bedside table and grinned when he saw the girly magazines still there hidden under the Sports Illustrated. He knew his mother had seen them and left them there.

It was good to be home and the only thing that would make it perfect was for Louisa to be with him. He closed his eyes and imagined holding her warm body close to his. Tired from the long drive he fell asleep soon after, dreaming of his mate.

****

Joe jumped from his bed; the noises awakening him were bangs and clangs coming from outside his window. Quickly pulling on his jeans he left his room to head downstairs.

The entry was full of pack members he recognized rushing around with their arms full of dishes, furniture and linens. Seeing his mother standing in the back of the dining hall he made his way over to her.

"Mom what the heck is going on? When did everyone get here?"

"They started arriving while you slept. Your father took your advice and contacted everyone he could through their bond. It worked! They were overjoyed you three had returned and where very excited that their Alpha wanted to reunite. It has been a very exciting conclusion to our day."

Patsy came into the room and walked over to where they were talking.

"Isn't it a miracle? Everyone was just waiting to be asked to return. The Alpha thought he would have to beg but all he had to do was ask. Now the house is being repaired and the gates are almost ready to be wired for electronic security. It's so nice to have help around here."

Joe watched with interest as the Patsy he met this morning was nowhere to be found. Instead in her place stood a happy and hopeful young woman looking forward to a great future.

He suddenly felt that Reggie was not going to have to work so hard after all to gain her trust. Smiling Joe spotted his two brothers entering the dining hall and waved them over.

"Hey guys Dad's bond was still intact. This is the result of a little humble pie and sincerity. Something all of us could learn a lesson from."

Reggie looked at Patsy and quickly averted his gaze walking forward to hug his mother and give her a kiss on the cheek.

"Mom it's so good to see the worry gone from your eyes."

"It feels good not to be worried son. How did all of you sleep? I never changed your rooms in hope that you would someday return."

"Yeah I noticed that, thanks Mom. If I decide to stay here I will be doing a little redecorating. Some of those posters I have on the wall are really old."

The look on Patsy's face returned to the old angry one from earlier; and she slowly walked away not saying a word.

"Are you stupid big brother?" Ralph asked Reggie. "That poor girl looked as if you kicked her in the gut. Why would you say anything about not staying when we just got here? I hope she makes it hard as hell to mate with her."

"Mate?" Hanna asked looking toward Reggie. "Patsy is your mate, and you stand there unmoving, I have failed you son. You should never let your mate flounder in uncertainty. You must reassure her that any move you make will always include her."

Reggie looked at his mother and nodded. He was a jackass and the time for him to grow up was at hand. The first thing he had to do was find a certain young woman that smelled like yellow roses.

Reggie walked out of the house into the back yard and was amazed at the activity going on around him. He paused several times to be welcomed home and to visit with childhood friends.

This was really a time of celebration and he wanted to share it with Patsy. He still smelled her scent so he was sure she had not left the area around the main house. He would let his nose lead the way.

He rounded the back corner of the old barn and stopped when he heard her voice talking to someone.

"Jessie why does he draw me so? He is an insufferable jerk and I can't stand the ground he walks on. I just wish he would leave already."

Reggie looked through a crack in the slats of the building and smiled to see that Jessie was a horse. He stood there patiently while Patsy brushed the horse's dove colored coat.

"Why did he have to come back? He is so arrogant with his long legs and wide shoulders. He even has a bald head that looks as smooth as a baby's bottom. What kind of woman am I to even think he would want to stay here with me?"

"You would be the only woman that would be able to keep me here Patsy."

Patsy jumped at his voice and scowled at his interruption. She moaned inwardly knowing that he had heard her speaking to Jessie, and wished the ground would open up and swallow her.

Reggie walked slowly toward the proud woman taking in her regal stance and strong chin. She was tall enough to reach his shoulders and firm enough to withstand his strong embrace. Her caramel colored eyes showed stress and her heart shaped face burned at being discovered.

"It is not nice to eavesdrop Chambers. It could cause someone a lot of embarrassment and pain."

Reggie smiled at her use of his last name, realizing that she was already giving him a term of endearment. Although she thought it was an insult it enflamed his need to be closer to her.

"It was not my intention to do either of those things. I needed to find you, we have much to discuss."

"I don't know what that could be; I only met you hours ago."

"But it only takes a minute to know your mate Patsy, and that is what we are. I am your mate Patsy. This man who makes you murderously angry, wants to claim your love forever."

She stood there like a statue eyeing him with fear. If he was her mate that would explain why she felt drawn to him. Her body wanted to run to him and hug his neck to hold him close, but she stayed rooted to the spot. It just couldn't be that easy; or could it?

"I am not sure of my feelings Chambers. I am having a hard time not being angry with you and your brothers for abandoning your family."

"We left for the good of the pack, or so we thought. We had no idea how difficult things had become around here. I am sure you heard that Joe and my Father did not see eye to eye."

"I have heard that he and your father had a disagreement but why did you and your brother leave?"

"Because we believed in what Joe felt the future of the pack should be. Our father refused to accept the changes that were sure to come, and told us to leave if we didn't like the way things were. We support our brother Patsy and now you can see that he was right."

Reggie sighed and rubbed his hand down the horse's neck accidently touching Patsy's hand as well. The electric shock that passed between them was undeniable, and they looked in each other's eyes for what seemed an eternity. Patsy's heart raced and Reggie's eyes slowly became molten bronze.

He pulled the beta against his chest and breathed in her scent. His mouth watered as the smell of her arousal rose to his nostrils. They flared in response and Reggie waited for Patsy to protest. When she didn't pull away he bent his face down to hers and slowly slanted his mouth against hers.

Patsy sighed releasing the breath she was holding, and Reggie's tongue entered the warmth of her mouth exploring her sweetness. He tried to be gentle but her scent overpowered his senses and he pulled her even closer. He relaxed as her small arms encircled his neck and she returned his kiss in a tentative manner.

Patsy held on for dear life as hot fire blazed through her body. Reggie's hard body scorched hers and she felt her knees begin to buckle under the onslaught of his kiss. Her nipples strained against his chest and she panted with need, a foreign emotion for her.

Reggie slid his hands down Patsy's back and cradled her round ass in the palms of his large hands. He lifted her effortlessly and deepened his kiss. Patsy clamped her legs around Reggie's waist and felt his hard cock strain against her.

She pulled her face away from his, she had to see his eyes and gasped at the sight.

Reggie's wolf was close to the surface and he growled at their disconnect. His eyes glowed with amber and silver flecks danced within them.

Her gasp seemed to bring him back to reality and he took a few deep breaths gulping in the fresh air.

"Forgive me Patsy, I want you so badly I almost lost all control."

He leaned his forehead against hers and smiled wickedly at the woman in his arms.

"This position suits you my sweet. I will dream of you tonight with you thighs squeezing the breath out of me."

Patsy's blush renewed the blaze within him and he slowly lowered her to the ground.

"No more my mate. I won't take you without your brother's blessing and that of our Alpha. We will do this the right way and I will be content where ever you chose for us to be."

Patsy lowered her head and covered her face with her hands.

"What is is my mate? Did I harm you?" Reggie asked with concern.

"I can't believe I behaved so wantonly Chambers. I couldn't stop my wolf from surrendering to you. Is this the way of mates or am I just a horny female ready to jump your bones."

Reggie couldn't help but laugh at her distress and pulled her back into his arms to reassure her. Reggie's mind raced with excitement and concern for his mate.

Was she an innocent? Could he be that fortunate? He could wait to find out, since he wasn't going anywhere. The woman in his arms was all the reason he needed to stay where he was.

"Don't ever compare yourself to that type of female my love. It's the way of mates and I promise you that it only gets much better after we become truly mated."

Patsy smiled and took his hand. "I will trust you on that Chambers and hold you to your promise."

Reggie and Patsy walked hand in hand back to the main house only aware of each other. The knowing looks of the pack members missed their notice as they sought Silas Chambers and Palmer Miller.

There would be a celebration sooner than they thought. Reggie was not willing to wait to mate with Patsy and had no intention of doing so.

****

Joe was amazed at the activity around the house and grounds. The garage was full of cars and there were even children playing in the large clearing behind the old barn.

His mother was beaming with joy and his father was in full Alpha mode barking orders and giving friendly advice. Joe could feel the love pouring through his bond. It was a living breathing thing filled with happiness and pride and it flowed back and forth between him and his pack.

He went back into his bedroom and picked up his phone to call Louisa. He was happy to give her some good news and hoped she'd had a good flight.

"Hello."

"Hello Brown Sugar how was your flight?"

Joe could feel the smile in her voice as she told him about her talk with Abe and Amandia.

"You better watch your back until I get there my mate. That witch sounds malicious to me. I can't wait to hold you again and keep you safe from harm."

"When will you be here Joe, my bed will be so lonely without you."

"I think I could leave here in a few days. Things are getting back to normal and I think they won't miss me too much if I leave then."

"Well hurry my love; I ache for your touch."

"Don't tempt me Louisa; I am weak when it comes to you."

"I will never promise to do that Joe, I want you here with me and I will use all of my hidden talents to get you here."

Louisa's husky laugh vibrated through the phone and Joe felt his cock spring to life. Groaning he adjusted his jeans around his bulge and counted to ten.

"I will be there Monday, is that soon enough?"

"Monday will be just fine. I can't wait my love. Dream of me tonight."

Joe hung up his phone and sighed deeply. It was getting more difficult every day to be separated form Louisa. His painful erection was a testament to that fact. Monday could not come soon enough.

Jobel McKenna, the North American Elder, looked at his companions and sighed. Everyone was anxious and it showed. He hadn't been sleeping well and his mate was ill at ease because of it.

Their connection was troubled, and she wouldn't allow him to close their bond even if only temporarily. His azure colored eyes mellowed as he looked at his mate Serena and their closest confidant Fabio.

They were not obligated to live within a pack, but Jobel and his mate resided with the Clarion pack and lived a life of comfort and prestige.

The other Elders from abroad would arrive soon and between them they would ensure the safety of the New Fiery One. She was their last hope, they had no choice.

Serena Kirk provided a much needed feminine point of view for Jobel. The fairest of the fair as many called her; she was Liosalfar an elf of the Light, and had hair the color of corn silk and eyes the blue of cornflowers. She looked like spring in bloom and walked as if she were swaying in the wind.
