As she tried to collect herself he told the cab to pull over, which it did allowing him to exit. Before closing the door he said, "Enjoy your party." And as her mind struggled to catch up with what had happened she tried to object. Tried to ask his name, tried to make clear she might be pregnant. But the door had closed and the cab was on its way.
She hadn't even realized he had stiffed her on the cab ride until they reached her destination and the cabbie turned to her and said with a twisted smile, "That'll be $54.20, plus $20 to clean up the mess you've made."
