Epilogue
Linda, as it turned out, was even more serious about her rehabilitation than I thought. On Sunday, she called Dee and every so-called friend, and broke the friendships. The coldness she'd shown me that Friday night showed itself to them in full force. We never saw them again.
She also found a counselor that Monday and went twice a week. She moved to the guest room, leaving me the master bedroom.
At neighborhood cookouts and parties she became a paragon of virtue. The guys quickly learned her response to flirting was a stone wall. Friendly, but stone.
True to her word, she never danced another dance with another man. Ever.
At the advice of a buddy, I had her sign a post-nup that surrendered her parental rights and settled for no more than 20% of our assets. She signed with no hesitation. The lady was serious.
Linda also never gave the slightest indication that she ever thought back on her night of debauchery with any degree of wistfulness.
Her attitude in the bedroom also changed. Nothing was off limits. When she learned I like to eat smooth pussy, she waxed herself every Friday. She offered her ass early on, but both of us found that overrated, and never did it again. However, she discovered that she liked 69, which made it a staple in the bedroom.
Whenever she bought special clothes or underwear for me, she modeled it for me same day, no questions. And no exceptions.
The biggest fallout from her "adventure," though, was both of us stopped taking anything for granted. Anniversaries, in particular, became sacred. For our eleventh anniversary she had her pubic hair removed with a laser procedure. "Hubby wants it smooth, he gets it smooth... all the time," the anniversary card read.
We became ultra-selective as we rebuilt our friendship circle. Only happily married couples or singles we both agreed on. No "his" or "her" friends. Every time a friend would even hint at something 'adventurous,' that friend was dropped summarily.
Neither of us ever mentioned Asshole LaValliere again, even when we read how another disgruntled husband took out his knees and exposed his antics to the media, the combination of which ended his career, fame and good name.
When Emma and Tommy graduated high school, we took three weeks to cruise the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Reconnection takes many forms. We explored them all. A lot.
Along the way, we discovered: it is indeed possible to end up even better than before.
THE END
Doesnt work without parity. She won't respect him.
Clearly you do not understand women
Not a bad story, overall but suspect it was written by the author´s wife???
Jim´s idea for revenge was good but he turned chicken shit and failed to carry through! He was afraid that she would off herself…. Why? If she had his major problem would have been solved! Hand her a double batch of sleeping pills and go for a beer!!
The ending showed how badly the marriage was actually fractured. When you have to work so hard all the time to ensure the other person is not being tempted to stray there is quite obviously little or no trust!!
A good story but the message in reality on this one speaks to me and says that when marriage becomes a full time job where you spend a consistent amount of time and money and have to constantly think about and be concerned that something could blow up then it isn’t worth it. It’s like the spouse of someone who is a cop and on the bomb squad. You don’t just worry about them being shot but they could be blown up and lose parts or end up dead but that is 24/7 with this marriage and that is no way to live.
I rated it four stars and then went looking back. 7 months ago I said four stars. Nuff said. I agree with that.

JPB NOT BOB
Meh, and what happened to Melinda....... seems.you brought her into the story then dropped her without another word
An intelligent solution! (much to the disgust of the fanatics, who live in a world of their own on the dark side of the moon).
I feel bad for Melinda, he used her for his own purpose and did to her what his wife did to him. He gave her hope that maybe in the future…. But he never mentions her again. They both are uncairing pos
Lame. Too easy a solution. And Jim only gets revenge indirectly when another husband deals with Marc properly.
Kind of a rushed storyline. I like that it isn't another BTB but it just seems an under-developed story.
The payback was lame. Melanie was used. So what if the bitch suicides? Her choice, just like her choice to whore.
What is this? Number nine? Number ten? I get that the original tale, as improbable as the tale was, now owns your imagination.
The original was eight pages, and this is, charitably, a page and a half. Why do you think that wrapping up a much longer story in a few words is interesting?
Perhaps it is that you only have a few words in your inventory.
This was boring, by the way.
