Hysteria in the Manor

There are two stories in this series, but they recount the same event. One is from the perspective of Marchioness d'Alembert, a noblewoman dissatisfied with her marriage to an incredibly boring man. She has fallen into a deep despair, hysteria, one might even call it, so she has called doctor Thomas Maxwell to her manor in order to treat it.

The other story is from the perspective of Thomas Maxwell, a doctor who specializes in the medical stimulation of the vulva in order to cure women of their mental woes. Unlike his contemporaries, he prefers a manual technique, relying on his own body, rather than the newly-invented, poorly understood electric vibrators.
