One mile in Manhattan down
Crotona from the Bronx
Thirty years from ‘69
Auden settled in some dive,
Lamenting Hitler’s tricks,
Unfaithful wifeless sex,
And sky scraped monoliths.

Me? I watch Amazin’ Mets
From my barstool in the Bronx
Win one more for all us Joes,
Baseball babes who know the score,
And even whores with their tricks.
All are faithful after all.

With one more vicious fluid round
I try to settle other scores.
Oh, I know their checkered game:
Ho Chi Minh wants Saigon,
Nixon wants the same
As Dover Air Base body bags
Are stealing home in Arlington
With souls now stolen by a war
To end again all other wars.

So who or what plays next?

Good poem

I liked it, nice mix of both Vietnam war, baseball, etc.

September 1969 resonates with me, but not the 1st in particular.
