Though power will evade most people's grip
and tempt them from a distance, we can tell
   you're turning
to your fair share of the block, a chip
or more - but do remember it's for hell
   you're yearning:
too soon you'll feel the cracking of the whip
on naked flesh and there will be a smell
   of burning.

I like the format and the message in your poem. Although I cannot possibly know the full meaning behind your words, I'd leave a counter-thought: sometimes power is just a way to defend oneself. Who can say what the "fair share of the block" is? We're taught that we get what we deserve, but the truth is that you seldom get things done just by waiting for others to remember you.

Really liked the form

you used - different, so very concise and clear - my comments would be an echo of the greenmountainer's.
