Her petals were barely open, just enough
to catch a tantalizing glimpse
of palest pink, wherein a dewdrop
of moisture glistened in the awakening dawn.
As I gazed in transfixed wonder
she slowly opened when I lowered
my face to breathe her sweet perfume
delicate in her newness, before joy of life
sent her tumbling over the trellis.
Oh Blushing Lucy the sweetest Rose of all.

Succinct and delightful

Beautiful. And a lot classier than something similar that I wrote eons ago.

Sent her tumbling over the trellis

Oh, if only I could think that poetically.

I liked the suggestiveness of this, UYS. I might have chosen a different adjective than "transfixed" because it seemed redundant with "wonder."

As always, you know how to pack alot into few words.
