sitting in the hot tub
naked as a prune
thinking of things
I’d like to do soon …
‘nother cup of coffee
‘nother cup of tea
places to go
places to flee …
stars of morning
glow in the east
sometimes starvation
often a feast …
moon light, birch trees
not a breath of breeze
just you in the distance
with your old-truck keys …
up the drive you stroll
toss me a smile
say you’re in the area
it’s been awhile …
undo your buttons
casually efficient
naked suits you well
you seem quite proficient …
smile once again
a sip from my mug
expecting salvation
or just a morning hug …

what is it that we seek
in fuzzy morning light
brand-new day
replay of last night …
watch the sky and wonder
is there life past this rock
are life’s doors open
or closed with a lock …
let our minds wander
coffee turns cold
things quite subtle
things quite bold …

climb from the water
cool on our skin
another day of mystery
chance to begin …
the rest of the journey
the remainder of the trip
coffee’s turned cold
but we both take a sip … …

This is good

And it could be better with some editing.
