Cruising Colfax avenue
two tons of Detroit Steel
I am riding shotgun
Cassidy's at the wheel,
looking for a women
a girl, a mademoiselle
lost her on the road
but used to know her well,
we shared a small apartment
up on the second floor
long before the blow-out
well be for The War,
stayed out late at night
slept to way past noon
she and I gobbled up
life with a silver spoon,
then the bullets flew
the prison guards revolted
the girl grabbed her clothes
out the back door she bolted,
I went off to Viet Nam
flew choppers filled with dope
dreamed about that girl
at the end of my rope,
now I'm cruising Colfax
my hair short and grey
I know I will find her
I just don't know the day,
