The Harshness of Light

Bright lights  city lights
a medley, senses surfeited
emotions strung out
when the soft cries fade
That fog covers all
nary a sound      nor a peep
when the morning Sun rises

those sheets are crumpled
as He sits sketching
her lines are askew      and exhausted
seen under the glare of the
cheap over-head light
when does the rank sweat dry off her brow.
matted and curlicued,
that hair, raven riven, may be shorn

soft whimpers, and mewls
sound as she turns
That line draws His eyes
Transfixed He looks
Watching, doing, moving,
Nails trailing, slowly sliding

That grey morass sucks it all down
