The story is great with just the three main characters. I always hoped Sarah would eventually find real feelings with Kate. Adding a old mother who probably isnt as easy to control and not into teens doesnt sound like a great plot line. Personally i think you should keep it lesbian. The next chapter should not be the last one, so regardless of whether you want the story to end in revenge or reconciliation the only possible answer of the three should be "More sadness"!

Whichever destination is chosen (and it probably should not be definitive yet) the story should head in a different direction so that it takes time to get there.

So in the next chapter Jake and Sarah should both try to advance their agendas whilst Kate continues to enjoy her ongoing corruption.
