I messed up and put Part 1 in Romance. Sorry!

This story has been great so far with what I have read. I love how you put in there that the mother left. I feel it's not talked about enough. Some women have kids but for whatever reason selfish or not they just can't bring themselves to be what the child needs. The grandfather in the story is written well for someone that was brought up when men and women were taught to have certain roles. If you weren't doing those roles then family and strangers saw them as a failure. It seems to run deep in the grandfather's blood.

Helluva yarn. I'd say there's a screenplay to be had here.
