after three years! But I really enjoyed both chapters. A bit of the mystery has been cleared up though this image of the golden tongue that no woman could resist is a bit scary to all of us men! I really like the development of the characters, even those off stage! Thanks Jake for getting back to us!
Be things as they may and its hard for Tom but I've gotta say that both his Mom and Frank got what they deserved. The scene described by Tom's dad certianly didn't seem to indicate any reluctance on the mom's part. Just another slut who fell for some romeo. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter, hope it won't take 3 years to post:) Good job.
Since the original chapter was posted so long ago, I thought that you had abandoned this story line. This story is a really good twist on the cheating wife genre. Please don't wait so long to post the next chapter if you can.
Hope he is a good detective and learns more about why his parents did what they did. Mostly hope you will keep the chapters coming this time.
that the grandparents (his mother's parents) took the attitude they did, then, and are still oh-ah-well now... I mean, all they have left of their line, their blood line, was/is Tom, their suffering and shaky grandson. and they treat him like he was just another neighborhood young man they come to know well?

that's odd. I thought they would come to embrace him wholeheartedly, never wanting him to be outside of their lives again, now that he is the only thing that they know, when they die, would perpetuate their lineage, their blood, and even some of their hopes and dreams.... and all they said was, "Come visit us again, okay?"

why not something like,

"Despite what your mother, our daughter, did ---- to herself, to your father, and to her family, you... please know, Tom, that we never blamed you or any one... we were angry and sadden that your father decided to take the action he did; and we were eternally regretful and sadden you mother made the decision she made, precipitating the consequences that have come to pass.... to put so much grief in our hearts.... but you were never to be blamed for the bad and illogical decisions your parents made, in whatever state of mind they were, when they made those aweful decisions... you are part of us, and we love you unconditionally, whether you are here with us or 10,000 miles away... you will never leave our hearts and minds... We are old and don't have too many years to live but don't forget we are your grandparents...."
This is a really good story, one I'll likely read again. You are an excellent writer, keep on writng, I'll keep on reading.
Well written and very intertesting. Thanks for sharing.
If Tom can’t understand why his father reacted violently... then Tom hasn’t been in a serious relationship. It shouldn’t be difficult to grasp that his father saw his world end with the visual of his wife fucking Nelson.
Not quite up to the first part, but still a solid 4 *'s. The writing is excellent, just seemed a bit staid.
the explanation of why the mom/wife cheated is empty. She chose to cheat, got one of several just rewards, as did the male predator. The explanation explains nothing and certainly doesnt justify anything either. rot in hell both. rk
