Click hereWhen I looked into the water
what I saw reflected there
would drive a sane man into drinking
and a drunk to end it there.
My life had been all about winning,
losing just wasn't part of the game,
but, when I walked into the water
I realized my life had to change.
All my past lies appeared before me,
their voices echoed like the wind.
All the wrongs that I'd committed
Flashed before me like a sin.
As I walked into the water
he reached his hands up towards me.
He whispered to me
softly speaking
words that will always haunt me.
He said the road I traveled
wasn't pretty, it wasn't safe
or long. All of my mistakes were forgiven
All of my past lies were gone.
"Watch the water,
" he whispered to me,
"all of your sins are reflected there.
Watch them float down the river.
Watch them vanish into thin air."
"Heaven is a waiting,
and your life is still strong.
You'll struggle to the end.
If you give up then it's all over,
And I won't be around when you end."
I am no winner,
nor a loser.
I am a person,
just the same.
I have a purpose
the water showed me
I need to go on.
If I follow the path he showed me
I can expect to meet God.
If I stumble and I lose out,
then to him I am lost.
All my choices,
he told me,
are my own what a delight.
Now was the time for forgiveness.
Could I overcome such a plight?
When it was over,
I walked out of the water,
into the sun's light,
I felt refreshed.
All those years I spent struggling
had been worth it,
I was aghast.
What the water had blessed upon me,
I reflected like a mirror.
He had changed me in to something better.
He had altered all my sins.
With his wisdom
and his guidance,
he had made me a changed man.
I will walk always near him
into the sun's light
forever more.
How could I have missed it?
Missed God's sun light
over and over
again.
