...would let your repetitive formula be consistent throughout. That said, I also think the repetition would work better if you were to cut the poem to the bones... say by half to two-thirds. (It's the old saying... sometimes less is more).

Sounds like quite an epic....I agree with jd...cut it some and it would be even more powerful.
