Violet is the color of my desolation
So deep and consuming, it wraps itself around me like a cloak of twilight
Dark as a storm, I drown in solitude
I lay awake at night, staring sightlessly as the same movie plays over and over again
If I concentrate, I can still feel his arms around me; still feel his kiss upon my lips
But he has left me, and my desolation is violet.

Blue is the color of my depression
Like the ocean sweeping along the beachfront, the waves are constant and unceasing
No end in sight to the depths of my misery
I function like a zombie, listening mindlessly to teachers as they drone on and on
If I close my eyes, I can still picture the love in his eyes as he gazed upon me
But he is gone, and my depression is blue.

Green is the color of my envy
With narrowed cat-eyes, I watch him casually slip his arm around her, laughing with her
The monster overcomes me as I glare at them
I begin taking different routes to school so that I don’t have to see them together
If I focus, I can push them out of my mind long enough to concentrate on passing classes
But he is with her, and my envy is green.

Yellow is the color of my anticipation
A new man catches my eye and his smile is sweet and kind; his eyes soften when they look at me
A day passes without thoughts of melancholy
I notice smiles coming to my petal-pink lips more easily, and laughs escape them more often
If I pay attention, the sun shines a bit brighter overhead, warming my heart and touching my soul
He has noticed me, and my anticipation is yellow.

Orange is the color of my revolution
I rebel against thoughts of past love, and focus on the slow-burning heat of new love’s touch
Set on fire, it begins to grow
A heat flickers through me when he undresses me with his eyes and a wink
If I hold my breath, I can hear my heart pounding when he steps close to me
His smile is an offer, and my revolution is orange.

Red is the color of my love
More passionate than mere lust, he fills my thoughts and heart at all hours of the day and night
Baby blue eyes make my heart glow
His arms are warm comfort as he holds me, his fingers stroking paths of love along my cheek
If I meet his devoted gaze, I can see a future of standing by his side until death do us part
He promises forever, and my love is red.

Really fine prose poem and I concur with champ that, with some trimming, you could have a terrific free form poem.

nice

a rainbow of emotion that runs around the colour wheel and draws us into the white light of creation. It's a good prose poem that I think could even be trimmed into a really good free verse form.

(thermometer set to glowing by my own personal default)
