he is waiting
he always waits

he is wanting
he always wants

his wants crush my needs
his needs crush my wants

the page is turning
we grow apart
yes, for a time
we grew together
it wasn’t all shit
the shit that it was
grew a daisy
but now
we grow apart

he gave me what it was I needed then
but now I need things he cannot give me
it’s not his fault
it’s not my fault
it’s not your fault
it’s just how life shook out

now it’s time to grow
apart
to part
and to grow
taking the memories
of the good
leaving the footprints
of the bad
and just be

be in the future
where his needs and wants
can’t bring me down
where I open my own wings
and fly

very moving-5

accurate description of life, loving and the leaving, the growing apart , Well done. Thomas Wolfe said "You can't go home again" and that is generally the case, when you try you find the house is a wreck. Rebuilding on a weak foundation rarely works and the flood will always destroy it when it inevitably comes. When a relationship is good it is good, when it is not little will use to explain why they throw away their lives, what they do not realize is that the children suffer too. It takes great courage to break away....

As for a comment on the technical aspects, I might suggest eliminating these redundant lines "where his needs and wants

can’t bring me down"

and going right to the conclusion you state so well although the image (wings-flying) is apt but somewhat trite due to its overuse in songs and common expression, might there be another form of release and escape for our heroine?
