in dusty drawers or stuck upon the wall
to fade unnoticed - I should try and wear
them on my hat to mingle with the stars
cold rain will drown those stars and I'll feel grey
and tired - an old moth that's sitting there.

...like some memories, truly beautiful but sadly transient. As memories are of the past, and cannot be held for more then the moment of their appearance, so too the fleeting presence of the butterflies. We can't really hold on to them, can we, else we'll destroy them, and their power to spread their beauty.
