How can I compare you to a rose.
The comparison just isn’t fair.
How can I compare something pretty and sweet.
To that who’s beauty is recognized everywhere.
What could I really be thinking?
What could possibly have been on my mind?
For trying to make that comparison.
I should be sentenced to doing hard time.
A rose is a rose and you are you.
So there’s really no comparison to be made.
The magnitude of my error in comparing you to a rose,
Will haunt me for the rest of my days.
To compare the softness of it’s petals to the softness of your heart,
Could be considered the eighth deadly sin.
To compare the emotions you evoke to the power of a rose.
Is something I’ll never do again.
From the error of attempting to compare a rose to you,
I realize I can never escape.
To compare the mystique of a rose to the beauty of your voice,
Was a direct slap in the face.
So let it be known that I apologize.
My intelligence has been greatly advanced.
To compare you to a rose just really wasn’t fair,
Because the rose never even stood a chance.
