This morning when I woke up there was a change
I could feel it clearly and it was real strange
I have always heard about losing your head
But until now I thought you had to be dead
Well this is my story about something I've lost
And how I had to get it back, no matter the cost.

This tale starts at the early crack of dawn
When my mouth opened with a big yawn
See the problem was that I had no mouth
Like the door was gone from a house
That's when it truly struck my brain
Now you'll think I have gone insane

Well I'll go on spinning my yarn
Call me crazy don't give a darn
My hands flew up to where my head used to be
I guess nothing in life comes with a guarantee
Cause all my fingers touched was an empty space
Gone was my skull with it my eyes and my face

I tried to scream but try doing that without lips
In panic I ran, stumbling and banging my hips
Yes, to you it is clear with no eyes I can't see
Can't you understand terror was rising in me
Before you hastily judge me, imaging this was you
Scared and not at all having the slightest clue.

Now that we've established the crux of the matter
Believe it or not but this anecdote gets even better
Feeling my way I staggered out into the hall
Where I crumbled to my knees, rolled up in a ball
Hugging myself I shook until I could no more
Then I had a feeling someone opened a door.

The vibrations of someone walking I could feel
They came closer and now here is a bizarre deal
Slowly all of my senses seem to be returning
I was glad, but it was also thoroughly disturbing
How can you hear and see without a head?
When in actuality you should be dead.

My hearing appeared to be a little hushed
My head felt like it had been crushed.
My vision became clearer and I could see
A hallway stretching out in front of me
Some stranger was carrying it around
While I was laying petrified on the ground

Through a window in that long hallway
The sun was shining revealing a new day
Her rays touching a collapsed figure there
Recognizing, all my eyes could do was stare
At my body laying there on the stone floor
Next to my body was the still open door.

As the thieve came closer and I could see more
What I did glimpse unsettled me to the core
In front of my eyes the figure was not human
It was a person shaped rusty old tin can.
When the robot moved I had my confirmation
I was not a living creature, just a contraption
