Cruelty in nature? perhaps. My mind wonders though through this poem's image to the main injustices in our world, where people are being swept and crushed even under the normal course of things in the world - just because.

If so, what do you do with the first line? March does bring in a timely way the first bloom. Just curious.

g_g, don't waste your time/ with those that do not sign/ But in honesty I'm missing it too. On another note, in a very short poem the word "but" takes on a great significance and I found myself wondering why it is there. Focusing on it. Not sure you intended to do that.
