I've walked along these many streets
I talked to spirits who died here
They stalked me until the day
I left my world shrouded in grey

Misery paints our lives in blood
History writes what we never left
Our fights, the pain we went through
To splatter this blank canvas with colour

The spiritual selves within are tainted
And the me I know, is not the one I painted
I look into the mirror and no one looks back
The blood fades to black, the black fades to grey
No longer can we see past the misery

I've prayed alone in this dying church
I swayed the dead to wander in
They laid down to sleep forever more
I crept into their minds to see only grey

We write our lives in blood
The light we never saw comes back
To reap the anguish we have sown

(Chorus)

You are the dead, the dying and the diseased
I am the living, the ceaseless tide of agony
I will watch myself decay
You will stare at me afraid
Life isn't fair, nor is death, our every nightmare
Becomes reality and the ocean pulls us back
Into the pits of black
Only to see it fade to grey
