FOR A GIRL

By JC STREET, © 2004 all rights reserved

A great hush comes over the world, I
see her walking
silently
silently in the silent
woods

pensive in the naked
woods

naked
in the pensive woods

naked

for the lost love of us

the not-so-quiet partings in the rain

the not-so-naked loss of need

under the wings of the thrush she
forms
a quiet nest
for her love the dark

beast

who never comes

-30-

Picton, Ontario – down by the waterside
