In time, a person comes to treasure the ice dam holding back the water. If it is frozen, at least it can get no worse; if it doesn't move, maybe it can be ignored. Life, though, is movement, isn't it? Even though we build the dam ourselves, we need help to thaw it.
Freezing your emotions to hide them in your belly is a barren strategy, for what has the power to unlock but love? To maintain it is to deny love. Beautiful and evocative (but mixed as to metaphor, I think-- by the title, mostly).
