after school
home alone
nobody near,
dusty 60s records
and a long succession of books
that became my good
but one-sided friends

they were always gone
till evening shadows crept
over the marble counter:
business or community service

home alone
nobody near,
dusty 60s records
and various books,
helped myself to the liquor
just never got really drunk
I guess
till a bit later
when I did all the time...
just completed my
university assignments

a lot of things happened
after that
until today:
home alone
nobody near,
as shadows creep over
the marble counter
