As you recollect for us a warmer time

Now you share with us your cold old man

While we wish for you that warmer clime

and this piece has a nice edge to it. you got the visuals moving really well here. i really do like this here though:

His cold heart needn’t know of

the old loft that smells of hay

the swallows flitting through windows

and the donkey’s soft, playful bray

and i have to pick this out to as it feels a bit comical to me:

The owl that listened, wide-eyed

as seasoned wood gasped in soft creaks

the hens’ knowing clucks of gossip

busily bursting from beaks
