I blurbed you in the New Poems Review thread in the Poetry Feedback & Discussion forum. Perhaps you'll send me an autographed copy of your first book. :-)
THANKS FOR YOUR MUSINGS ON DEATH AT TIMES OF PLENTY. I FELT THAT YOU WERE LEADING A PROVOCATIVE NARRATIVE ON THE SLOW SUICUDAL HABITS OF CONSUMERS TURNING ON THEMSELVES LIKE THE UNFOGRTABLE IMAGE FROM :"YELLOW SUBMARINE", WHEN THE ULTIMATE CONSUMER CREATURE: ‘THE VACCCUME MOUTH’ TURNS ITS KNOB INTO ITS OWN BODY AND PROMPTLY DISAPPEARS...GIVEN THE ABOVE, I STRUGGLED A BIT WITH THE 'PUNCUALITY OF DEATH' AT THE END. PERHAPS YOU MADE A DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE SLOW DEATH AND THE FINAL ONE. I WOULD HAVE STUCK WITH THE SLOW UN ROMANTIC DEATH, IF ONLY TO STICK IT TO THE POMPOUS POETS...
i think these two verses are especially brilliant:
1)These are the love handles of amplified life:
a mere misery of miniseries on channel five,
of calories, spending of tax dollars, the dishes
and who last washed them, medicating for legal reasons,
new babies in dumpsters, finding a parking spot downtown.
(because we're a nation of excess)
2)Lately,
I think on death,
as of late, the late me,
and believe if anything death is much too punctual
(a simple idea, and cleverly worded)
i also thought the line about the existentialists' thoughts was spot on. nicely done
