I fall from the edge of this world into impenetrable distance,
feel night black as a cat rub its soft fur against my skin as
I descend towards pale stars her eyes
floating uncertain as flame yet solid as colour,
drawing me down like gravity
to be enveloped in night’s soft flesh,
the dark the open mouth of her kiss,
and in the embrace of her lips, my being and all my memories
coincide, annihilate each other,
drown,

until,
in that one final moment of incandescence,
when the myriad fragments of self rearrange and gather remade
shimmering in my nerves
swollen with the subtle perfumes of her flowering,

my hand reaches into her flesh,

and when in answer her flesh yields to unravel its tapestry,

surrenders its mystery to my fingers in whispers and sighs,
I become her flesh, wrapped in the spill of her warm skin,
feeling her I drink her like the sweet juice of forbidden fruit ...

and she, she touches my skin with her eyes,
with the brush of her fingertips,
the song of her blood, her blood beating in my veins until all that is is the drum of her heartbeat, the throb the beat hypnotic, resounding, insistent,
as heart finds its echo doubled,

crescendo,
in the crucible of the senses,
chiaroscuro of desire,
we are small as atoms or as huge as the sky,

the unfathomable refractions of llove
