I dreamt last night
Of snow falling slowly
Brightening the landscape
Like icing on a cake

I stuck out my tongue
To capture a misguided flake
And savored the taste
Of sugar and spice

The sky was so cloudy
That the darkness seemed darker
And the sky so much lower
That I almost cried

But then I saw the light
Coming up from the horizon
And knew I was safe
As morning arrived
