she inspired a great poem. :) I can't think of anyone more wonderful than lauren to write an ode to.
Hmmm sorry, I might be totally wrong here, and if I am I apologize to those concerned, but isn't an ode supposed to talk about the person the ode is dedicated to?
I dunno but this one doesn't appear to be about this 'Lauren Hynde' person (whom I don'know) but more about either a crime that's been commited or a child or whatever dying....it seems kinda odd to me to say that this is an ode to this person.
Is the poet trying to insult this 'Lauren Hynde' person in talking about cell decaying or is he simply putting words together and dedicating the poem to this person? If it's the former I'd be insulted to see my name appear at the same place as cells decaying...unless of course this 'Lauren' is dying and the poet is trying to say that it makes him sad..but I really don't think that's what this poet is trying to do.
In any case, the poem is nice, but I certainly don't read it as an ode to anybody.
Guess I did a lousy job on this....the "ode" in the title refers to an attempt to write a poem in the manner of Lauren Hynde....less obvious, subtle word play, visual imagery etc. The CONTENT of the poem has nothing to do with Lauren Hynde at all, and wasn't supposed to. It also is not necessarily a murder as you assumed.....you see what I mean now? Lauren Hynde's poems do not necessarily have one answer and this one is open to many different interpretations. Guess it's back to the "drawing" board!!
no offence to the anonymous poster, but an ode is a poem with a series of complex stanzas... But I can see where you're coming from.
Truthfully, this is by far your best poem yet sack. I'm sure she's proud to have her name on it, be it about her or not.
Fantastic stuff hon. ;-)
with an ode, but i've read lauren's stuff and i can see abstracts in the imagery as that is a resemblance. for example in this stanza:
Right behind the prone figure
a policeman sobs, hiding his emotion
just another day, another son taken
The wheel of life slowly winding down
***
though the image is concrete, it can lead the reader to many possibilities underneath it. overall, again, some great imagery.......don
how Lauren inspired you to write this poem. You showed such talent in writing this.
The clean vivid lines from this talented poet is in a word ~ stunning! Always the relevancy ~ never disappoints. Bravo!
