But (at times) I am reminded that
shortness of breath and inability to breathe
are always possibilities
my body's involuntary response to you
like that base biological function
impossible to control
which renders our love out of my hands
a thought that cripples me
though its visceral, involuntary freedom
is precisely what I need.
