tossed into the pond
bounces off of ice
and rolls.
Glinting orange in the setting sun
It rolls
Over the hard, cold surface
Against the wind
It rolls
Slowly turning a corner
Despite the odds
It rolls
Not knowing where it is going
A tiny break in the ice
Someone managed to chip free
The wish rolls
and falls straight in,
already having come true.
call me thick, I have no idea what this is about.
This is a strong visual piece:
the short line
"It rolls" - 3x
the other two lines
with "rolls", shorter also, drawing attention to, very effectively, what is the most important word here.
It mimics... and you seem to be writing with a slow rhythm
even a penny never knows where it will end up (or does it?)...great portrayal of synchronicity. This poem is subtle but says so much.
