The fuse is lit
tension mounts
clock
ticks
watch
wait
trembling throughout.
Stomach churns
fists clench
tears
fall
like rain.
A door is slammed
footsteps pound
shots
fired
blood
splatters
tension’s released.
Handcuffs lock
murder charge
judge
rules
self defense
Nightmare jolts, shadows creep
scream echoes
heart
pounds
mind
hears
eggshells crunch.
