Perhaps it happened those 22 years ago
when I came off the assembly line.
Not like most, whose bodies feel the pressure
and then the chill of the air as it crosses their skin.
For me, there was no tunnel, no opening.
there was only darkness
revealed by the swift stroke of a scalpel.
As the air rushed into my new, unborn lungs
Atropos' shears were stalled and a new mechanism was devised.
One more sinister, for an old soul's trespasses.

So now, I'm on my knees in prayer.
It seems gravity laws are unconcerned with my need for flight.
I lift me up one atom at a time,
because Chronos has no conscience for the unborn.
I feel him binding me to this person I don't know
and never wanted to be.

So let them watch my ever changing tragedy with
their eyes of flesh,
for my soul will rise unseen, unknown by those of natural birth.

May my thread outlast you all.
