We have lived all our lives in those moments of sudden shock
Before we finally realise that our throats have been cut.
Our feelings of warmth and ease come from the blood as it quickly leaves.
The hardest part of all - the knife itself we cannot recall.

So many feelings are being described here, in such a short few lines. I keep coming back to a sense of relief that the battle is over, and the last line leaves me uneasy. It would be interesting to know what inspired these thoughts but probably better to let my own experiences guide me through it... Excellent.
