quite simple, quite effective, enough clues, that makes the ending hit you.

Made me smile.

...by grimacing at the sun. (Sadly, I find more and more true everyday!). I loved the feel of this, my favorite passage being:

"a thousand grasshoppers

Singing their days away

The way the setting sun reflects

off a birch leaf waving in the breeze"

Even that internal rhyme felt right!

is it made me sigh, but in a good way

and the last stanza really sets the poem. Good work!

I wonder if summer knows about botox?
