I'm just starting this story which I stumbled upon by pure luck, so I can't say much yet, but I have to admit you definitely got me interested. Mostly by the way you wrote that chapter - it was so smooth, pleasant and at the same time very contrite, that I got so hooked I completely lost track of time. One small thing, the word "kid" seems out of style, "child" would fit better I think
