"No, Nubs is picking me up from the auto garage," He shook his black hair with his long fingers. He was anxious and I had the feeling he wanted me to get out of the car.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," I said quietly and opened the door and stepped out of the car. I looked back at him as I shut the door and he was biting his lip and looking out his window. I threw the cigarette butt to the ground and stomped it with the toe of my heel.
"Bye Rae," He said and offered a half-hearted smile, meeting my worried blue eyes. I waved and nearly ran to the door as I heard him drive away. I looked to the road but he was already gone and I felt tears at my eyes. I slipped into the house and my hand flew up to wipe at my eyes.
